help with collection

hi everyone , id like to ask if its better to start a watch collection at a minimum price and less pieces ?

I did buy a 70s timex as my first piece  , took delivery and thought  I like it but I don't love it , so I'm one watch in moving onto my second , my problem is I'm drawn to older lesser price watches , I really like vintage chronographs , and am drawn to 60s 70s watches with fantastic movements and rubys , I simply don't have the budget per watch for £500 + per piece , I was looking at older omegas  as they seem to be in my catchment (or should I say the lesser popular ones )  should I ignore the 60s 70s hand winding watches which seem to have a 101 never heard of brands  and simply go for a omega quartz ,  shold I go 5x £200 pieces or 3 x£300 pieces or 2 x £500 pieces    the problem I have is the non branded complication stuff is so cheap but is there any point in buying it , beautifull stuff but is nondescript just a waste of money  ,     any help will be very gratefull    regards
