I'm hoping to get some advice on problem with my watch.
I purchased a Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 from a well known high street jeweler about 5 months ago.
I wear it every day during the week but not at the weekend. Because I don't wear it over the weekend, I have to reset the date/time on Monday so for convenience I bought a watch winder and started putting it in the winder on Friday night through to Monday morning which kept it wound.
One Sunday I checked the watch in the winder and it had stopped which I thought was strange so I took it out and went to manually wind it. When I started winding it felt tight as though the watch was already fully wound and I could hear the clicking sound which I normally use as an indication of when to stop winding. After a few turns the watch started moving again but only went for about 10 seconds before stopping. I wound it a few more times and it again stopped after a few seconds. Since this didn't seem normal, I stopped manually winding it and just put it on my wrist to see if it would sort itself. After a while it started up again and was fine however, since then, winding via the crown doesn't feel right.
Previously, when the watch was stopped I would unscrew it to wind and the crown would rotate with very little resistance until about 40 turns where it would begin to show a little resistance, the clicking would start and I would stop winding. Now when I go to wind the stopped watch, there is some resistance from the beginning and after about 10 turns it starts to click.
The watch is still under warranty for another 1.5 years but I'm not sure if this is something that's covered. I don't want to have to pay to repair or service a watch that I've only had for 5 months.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
