Ok so this is going to be quite long winded and if it's not relevant to the forum please feel free to remove. Hopefully no body falls into this scam, I should be able to get out of it but it's quite a stark reminder of the importance of getting watches check and/or checking watches when you buy them

It starts with a popular online site and a watch I'm rather fond of. The Cartier roadster

The seller who won't be named listed with an insurance valuation from Ernest Jones with th serial number. Checking this number on the Cartier database comes up with a Cartier Roadster large model auto.

Here are the pics when it arrived

When it arrived it looked ok but the bracelet felt a little bit lighter that it should do took off the back

Housed an eta 2824, wrong for the watch  furthermore there are no holes for the 'headlights' and only 6 bezel screws rather than 8.

Contacted the seller who says I'm conning him as you can imagine and the watch was of course genuine as it had authentication, he said  No returns and I have been reported to eBay
