Well, there's another watch fair in town and GS are out in force showing off their very bold and brash new GMT's! These are definitely a departure from their usual safe approach. For a start, they're a whopping 46.5mm in diameter and the cases and bezels are made of ceramic with titanium inlay's. There are both chrono and non-chrono versions. I forgot to ask about whether they come on a strap or a bracelet, as they were actually displayed on quite garish belt sized straps, if that makes sense? Not a lot did. Another thing worth mentioning is that the ceramic finish is more 'Rado-ish' than Omega's version. The bezels were very shiny.
Now my photo's are really very poor, crap really, as you will see, but I hope you get the idea of what these are all about? I'm going to pop back to the fair so I might see if I can get some better shots. The two models shown were my personal favourites.
Oh, did I mention the price? The chrono weighs in at a hefty £9800 and the non-chrono version at a more, ahem, moderate £7800. Do form an orderly queue!
The worst photos are of the chrono, so best get that out of the way first.
This next one shows how the titanium is used, basically a plate on the barrel including the crown and pushers and various screws.
I really liked the blue dial of this next model, but wasn't sure about the contrast with the very shiny bezel. I thought the large white date window a mistake.
Separately, away from the Seiko stands, I found this diver all alone in an individual display case. Is it a prospex - is that what the x means? I thought it very attractive, apart from the cyclops, and will find out more about this when I return.
