Does anyone else absolutely loathe the way most quartz watches have a ticking seconds hand? I just can't stand it. They're never aligned with the markers, which is the worst of it. I'm sure if you buy the overpriced name brand Swiss quartz that they're more accurately aligned. But I refuse to pay thousands for any single luxury item that's merely a piece of jewelry. My phone tells the time more accurately than any watch. Even updates itself to the timezones I travel to. Watches are obsolete really. Man's accessory, his acceptable jewelry item.
Anyway, a sweeping seconds hand just exudes class to a degree that the ticking hand never will. Of course we all know that technically all seconds hands "sweep" by definition. Just like they all "tick" by definition. As long as they tick at least 5 times per second I'm okay with it. I prefer 8 beats as any would. Japanese and Chinese movements unfortunately tend to be on the lower side of this and it's very noticeable.
Then there are those that break the mould. The Bulova Precisionists. Fantastic piece of work. Absolutely love my two. Quartz with a higher beat rate than most mechanical, even the highest end Swiss and the highly regarded Seiko Spring Drive are only on par with the Precisionist.
Anywho... Thoughts? Agreements, disagreements, etc...?
