This may be a salutary lesson to newbies wanting to start or add to their collection on a budget as I did a few years ago. I bought a Seiko Automatic from EBay and it duly arrived for £5 from India. It works fine, looks odd, is apparently a Seiko Automatic movement and keeps good time. It looks nothing like a Seiko, it seems that the movement has been jammed into a different case but for a fiver I wasn't unduly bothered. Surprise then when I did the same thing with a Ricoh Automatic a short time ago after the odd glass of Bourgogne red wine. It arrived today looking, to be fair like the image on EBay. It is a lot nicer than the Seiko (excuse the dust) but has similar origins I think, in that the movement has been stuck in a different case. The weight has the Ricoh markings as can be seen, whether the jewels exist I think not. I think the numerals have been stuck on with some tiny hands too. Not fathomed out how to change the date number yet either, all good fun though.
