I have a 1970 Omega Deville quartz "lozenge shaped" watch - the numbers stamped on the movement are 1337 and 48485 282
Some years ago I rather stupidly tried to change the battery and in squeezing the back on I broke the glass with my thumb. I also squashed the fingers against the watch face. I took the watch in to get a price for repair which was £750. The watch isn't worth anything except sentimental value to me but it was working fine up to the point where I damaged it.
When I get the watch back the winder was hanging out and doesn't move the hands.
My questions are :- could I get a 2nd hand replacement movement, where could I get the lozenge shaped glass and finally how if the winder spindle held in place. It almost seems that when they examined the watch they forgot to fit something which holds the winder in place. I know I should probably just chuck it in the bin but it has sentimental value.
Thanks Chas
